Showers and thunderstorms developing over Northern California, the mountains, and east of the Cascades by midday. The valleys of Southwest Oregon have a chance for showers and storms this afternoon and through this evening. A slight chance for showers and storms in Coos County, and coastal Douglas County. Showers and storms that develop will be capable of producing heavy rainfall. Storms that form are expected to produce frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes and gusty winds. Highs today will be in the upper 90s for the valleys, 80s for the Brookings area on the South Coast, and in the 80s to the low 90s for the mountains and east of the Cascades. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s for the valleys, with 50s and 60s for the mountains and east of the Cascades.
