Todays Forecast Discussion NWS / WPC Sun Nov 09 2014 Valid 12Z Sun Nov 09 2014 - 12Z Tue Nov 11 2014 ...Heavy snow possible over parts of the Upper Great Lakes/Upper Mississippi Valley... ...Temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees below average over parts of the Northern High Plains/Northern Plains... A strong cold front extending from the Upper Great Lakes to the Northern Plains then to the Northern Rockies will move southward to the Texas Panhandle and eastward to the Lower Great Lakes/Northern Appalachians by Monday evening.Snow will develop along the leading edge of the boundary over the Great Lakes on Sunday morning and areas of snow/rain over parts of the Lower Great Lakes into parts of the Northern Appalachians Sunday evening into Monday. Snow will also develop over parts of the Northern High Plains that will expand onto the Northern Plains by Sunday evening.The snow will become moderate over the Upper Mississippi Valley to the Northern High Plains on Monday morning. The snow will move into the Upper Great Lakes by Monday evening. The moderate snow will move southward to the Central High Plains by Monday evening, too.The light snow will linger over the Northern High Plains through to Monday evening. Meanwhile, rain will develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest on Sunday morning and expand into parts of the lower elevations of the Northern Intermountain Region by Sunday evening. The rain will end over the Northwest late Sunday night. In addition, upper-level energy over the Central Gulf Coast will move to Florida forming a closed upper-level low by Monday. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms over Southeastern Florida through Monday evening.
