Todays Forecast Todays Forecast Image Get ready for another stormy day with mostly cloudy skies and scattered valley rain and mountain snow above 7k feet. The final batch of moisture will move in by this afternoon and evening as a cold front begins to push through the area. That will drop snow levels to around 6k feet and travel over the passes may be difficult tonight into Thursday morning. Clear skies by Friday and the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Heres the winter weather advisory issued for the greater Lake Tahoe area from the NWS in Reno: THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ABOVE 7000 FEET IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 4 AM PST THURSDAY. * TIMING: PERIODS OF LIGHT SNOW THIS MORNING WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 5 TO 10 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET. UP TO 2 INCHES DOWN TO 6500 FEET. * SNOW LEVELS: 7000 FEET FALLING TO LAKE LEVEL DURING THE LATE EVENING. * IMPACTS: SNOW WILL MAKE HIGHER ELEVATION PASSES SLUSHY AND SNOW PACKED THIS MORNING AND ALSO THIS EVENING. THIS INCLUDES THE PASSES ON INTERSTATE 80...U.S. HIGHWAY 50...CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY 88 AND NEVADA HIGHWAY 431.
