Todays Good News: Second Precinct Officer Kim Carter recently responded to a home for a report of a stabbing, but when she arrived on scene, she determined no one had been injured, and that the incident was an argument between juvenile sisters, one of whom suffers from mental illness. After further investigation, Officer Carter learned there had been several police calls to the residence about the issues, and that the teen was upset because there was no food in the house and no one had acknowledged it was her 16th birthday. Officer Carter then called many different family members in an attempt to diffuse the situation and find the teen another place to stay for the night. She finally located an aunt who would take her in, but before she drove her there, she made one important stop: a restaurant to buy the teen a birthday meal using her own money. Thank you, Officer Carter, for going above and beyond to help a troubled teen who was hungry and having a bad night on her birthday.
