Todays Herbal Wisdom So we talked in the past about detoxification and it was concluded that often those who detoxify and perform cleanses on a regular basis may leave their body and immune system susceptible to illness. Why is this? Because most of the cleanses that are available not only strip away the bad toxins but also remove the good leaving the body in a weakened state. Cleanses including enemas can be too harsh to your body especially if the organs are already weakened. The herbal approach to detoxification is based on the perspective that the body is able to heal itself. This is a gentle and non-evasive approach to cleansing. We have been made with wonderful and effective mechanisms that naturally eliminate toxins and wastes. Sometimes however the body can become bogged down with toxins and we may need to provide our body with nutrients to support this process, gently and naturally. It is good to keep in mind that when we introduce a program of cleansing that we focus on all organs of elimination which supports the idea of holistic healing. - Support the whole process of elimination - provide specific support for overtaxed organs - work to alleviate symptoms and to address any pathologies that may be present. A basic guideline to follow: - always use gentle remedies. If the remedies are too harsh there is no therapeutic benefit. Expelling and vomiting are not a healing process. If you are thinking about undertaking an elimination program, you may want to consult with your Herbalist so they may assist you in choosing the appropriate remedy for you. The information above is not intended to diagnose or cure any illness or disease. It is the responsibility and right of each individual to make their own health care choices and to seek a qualified practitioner before introducing any new remedies.
