Todays Inspiration (To provide feedback, email us at prayer@princeministries.) Thursday, March 20, 2014 Uniquely Beautiful by Dianne Prince God created you in His image. Genesis 1:27 confirms to us, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” The image of God conjures up images such as “life”, “personality”, “truth”, “wisdom”, “love”, holiness”, “justice”, capacity for spiritual fellowship” and “power”. Yes, you are created in God’s image. And at the same time, God created you unique. There is no one like you. You are different. You are exclusive. You are inimitable. You are distinctive. You are matchless. And you are rare. Rare is good; Distinctive is impressive; and exclusive is valuable. Yes, you have all the body parts everyone else has. You have a mind to think; feet to walk; and a spirit to commune with God. However, there are several factors that make you unique: your personality is like no other on this earth. Your spiritual gifts are administered in a way that only you can carry them out. Your abilities, though similar to others, are exclusive to your style. Your passion to serve in certain areas is distinctive. And the experiences of life God has allowed you to undergo are unique to you and you alone. 1 Peter 2:9-10 says, “But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” In other words, you were hand selected by God; made exactly the way He intended for you to be; to do the work He has placed in your hands. Because God made you, be content with who you are. If you are a little overweight and have been trying to loose with no success, so what? God says, “You are beautifully and wonderfully made.” Embrace it. Enjoy it. Settle in with it. God did not make a mistake when He made you. If you do not “fit in” with those around you, so what? God did not make any clones. He gave you a mind to think from a different view. “You are a peculiar people.” You can not live out the expectations of others. Living for other people leads to bad decision-making. In Matthew 14:1-12, Herod needlessly beheaded John the Baptist because Herod set out to please his wife, Herodias’ daughter. His step-daughter set the expectation and Herod agreed to it against his better judgment. What a bad decision! Living for others will cause you to lose sight of the truth. Jesus was crucified because Pilate was pressured by the crowd to release the murderer and kill Jesus. “But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. So Pilate decided to grant their demand.” (Luke 23:23-24) Living for others is a dangerous thing. Do not let people determine for you who you are and what decisions you are to make. Be your own person. Stand you for what is in your heart of hearts. Speak up when you have an opinion that goes against the grain. Living for others will rob you of your joy in Christ. Know who you are. You are light. Know who you are living to please. God is the only one who matters. Use your spiritual gift to the fullest. Ask yourself, “Will what I am doing make a difference in 10 years? If not, abandon it and try something else. If that turns out to be meaningless, move on until you hit your sweet spot in ministry. Like Jesus declared in John 8:14, “for I know where I came from and where I am going.” In the same way, know where you came from and know where you are going. Who are you? You are a beautifully and wonderfully made unique individual with the attributes of Christ. You possess the power of God and through Christ you can accomplish whatever you set out to achieve.
