Todays MLK Day was one of many blessings. As I sat on the stairs next to the Northeast High School practice field waiting for my fraternity members to arrive, I looked up in time to see a pickup truck swerve to avoid an animal, over correct, fly down a massive embankment, knock down a fence, and then slam into a set of cement bleachers. Luckily, my insitincts kicked in right away and I ran down to the scene (which was seen by nobody else) where I was able to pull the man from a smoking car after his head had smashed against the windshield during the impact. I then had the opportunity to comfort him and share words of wisdom as we sat and waited for the police and paramedics to arrive. I learned from this very short 10 minutes that this man had a variety of other serious ailments, and if I had not reached him on time the situation could have been much more dire. God is truly good. I feel as if I was placed in the right location, at the right time, with the right letters of my chest. I am proud to be a Brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. It has truly molded me into a man of initiative with compassion for others. Please pray for this kind man and his family as they deal with medical concerns and finances following this tragic accident. Stay safe and stay blessed!
