Todays National Forecast: A mixed day to come across the country with variable amounts of cloud around but some of breaks in the cloud to allow some bright or sunny spells through the day. Scattered showers becoming rather widespread though as the day goes on. The showers will be wintry over the hills and could be wintry to lower levels through the morning too with a risk of thunder in the South before turning back to rain by the afternoon. The best chance of staying dry will be further East across England but nowhere will be completely immune to the showers. Cooler with highs of 3-8c (37-46f) and a moderate to fresh Westerly wind.
