Todays #NutcrackerNote will tell you about the location of the Ann Brodies Carolina Ballet production! Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet, performs “The Nutcracker” at The Township Auditorium. Built in the 1930’s, this building – the Grande Dame of performance venues in Columbia - is a beautifully restored golden horseshoe design, with a Grand Tier and upper balconies. The extensive renovations recently completed by Richland County gave a new sheen to the building adding a new grand lobby, massive new stage riggings, new stage lights, and many new dressing rooms, while retaining the magnificent old-world glamor and charm of the building and the securely “sprung floor” (so essential in preventing injury to dancers). Home to the Columbia Music Festival Association’s productions since it first raised the curtain. This is the 53rd season of “Nutcracker” productions sponsored by the CMFA…and the 52nd at the Township. While the building was under renovation, Ann Brodies Carolina Ballet performed at The Koger Center for only one season.
