Todays Nutritional Tip: Concession Foods Spring sports are in season and you may have been to a few games already. Concession foods are not always the healthiest, but here are some tips to eat healthier and make better choices: • Eat something first – that takes the edge off your hunger so you don’t overdo on the high-fat concession foods. • Know your options – decide before you line up to buy. If you’re not familiar, ask a fan what is usually offered. • If available, pretzels (without the cheese and salt), kettle or air-popped popcorn, water, diet pop, and fruit are the best choices. • Go easy on the beer and regular pop – calories add up with these drinks. • Take a walk during the seventh inning stretch (or at game breaks). • Drink plenty of water and use your sunscreen if you’re sitting in the sun all day. • Enjoy the game – if you do splurge on ballpark food, cut back the next day.
