Todays Organised Home Day 16 challenge is a big one- declutter and organise your pantry. One thing I did a few months ago that has been really great for maximising storage space in our pantry has been to take out a shelf that was underneath the large bench shelf, and put the wire baskets drawers in. I just measured the space and went to @Storageboxnz and luckily found 2 sets of drawers that fit in the space! Before when there was just a shelf there everything was in a mess and, like most cupboards, you end up with difficult to access space at the back, which is why kitchen design in general seem to be moving away from cupboards to drawers- so much better for organising stuff and for access to stuff! The top right wire basket is for most of the kids snack foods/lunchbox foods and since I set this up the girls pack their own lunches most days so that has been awesome! Something else I have done lately is when I get the groceries I transfer most things now like crackers, biscuits etc into clear containers so they are easy for the kids to open, we can see what needs stocking up and they stay fresh for longer. We havent had toooo many problems with easy to get at snack foods, Jack has been found on occasion stuffing numerous biscuits in his mouth or sitting on the floor surrounded by crackers but on the whole the benefits of the girls being able to pack their own lunches outweighs Jack getting into the drawer now and then! So why not today take everything out of your pantry and declutter anything you dont need or has expired. Then give all the shelves a clean and do a bit of tidying/rearranging of your pantry items. Maybe you have some containers you could use to organise certain foods, or you could make a list of containers you would like. I get the Sistema bakery ones from the supermarket for flour/sugar etc and I love them.
