Todays Thoughts... America The Beautiful Come one, come all, to this great land of America. I will keep my arms outstretched for you to enter. Ill keep the fire turned up warm and the porch light will be left on at nights. However, there are a few rules you must follow, when you are in my house, you will do as I say and I could care less what you may think. America, by all means was based on religious freedom, but that being said, America was also built on a christian religion as you will find the evidence on our money and in our public buildings. I dont expect you or request that you worship as I do, but at the same time, I will not change my ways of religion just to satisfy you. Our children will pray in schools, if you do not wish to join in, I have no problem with that at all. Also, since the majority of Americans are of the christian faith you will find that city hall and other public buildings will show the respect for the God that we believe in, if it offends you, then you can always pack your bags and go back to the country you came from. You must follow our laws, you may not agree with them, but I could care less. I must admit, there are some that I dont agree with, but as an American, it is my duty to obey them as they were put into place by representation of the people themselves. I respect your old world customs, but you must remember, it was you who chose to come to America, no one begged you to come live among us, therefore I expect you to live among us and dress the way most Americans dress. Since you have entered my doorway and now that you are sitting at my table to enjoy the food this great country has delivered to you, I expect you to act like an American. I expect you to fight and die for this country if you have to. I expect you to say the Pledge of Allegiance just as all Americans do. Remember it was you who chose to come upon our shores and live among free people, therefore I expect you to be one hundred percent American. I for one, have never believed in such titles of sur names to be associated with Americans. I dont care what country you came from, if you are American, then you are American. I dont believe in the terms Irish American, Italian Americans, African American, we all came from somewhere over time but once we set foot on American shores, then we became American and thats it. As an American, I believe your voices should be heard, however, I will not change a way of living that has been going on for a few hundred years now just because you dont approve of certain things. If something offends you, I wont even say, Im sorry because the truth is Im not sorry, my thoughts are simply get over it or pack your bags Always remember, when you entered the door of my house it was not locked behind you, so you may leave at anytime you choose to do so. In closing, I will say one last thing, the next time you are in a place where the American flag is being flown, I expect you salute it just as any other American would do. America has been called the melting pot of the world, so my advice to you is to start melting and blend in with the rest of us. I would like to think once this melting pot is stirred a few times and the contents are poured out onto American soil, there will be only one thing standing there on the ground and that is a True American, plain and simple, nothing more, nothing less.................
