Todays (Tuesday) Norman Transcript has a front-page story of an interview with Tom Cole that presents the GOPs distortions as news. Specifically, Cole states that a starting point for budget negotiations is acceptance of Chained CPI, that both House and Senate Democrats, as well as the GOP are in agreement on this initial cut in Social Security. Then there are several paragraphs of rationalization to the effect that this is NOT a cut. If the paper wants to present that as an editorial position, that is their privilege. But to present is as factual news, without any suggestion of questioning it, is NOT fair journalism.
