Todays York Region Inter-Municipal Emergency Exercise was very informative. It was good to see the level of participation from Newmarkets senior management team. There were good discussions about responding to severe weather conditions, the recovery from the 2013 Southern Alberta Flooding as well as a follow up on the recovery efforts in the Lac Megantic Train Derailment. The scope, and scale of resource commitments for recovery, after the the emergency response is over were quite substantial, not only from a financial perspective, but in the impact on the community resources. A must see for all elected officials.
