Todays amazing Catch 22. My CPAP machine is beginning to fail. - TopicsExpress

Todays amazing Catch 22. My CPAP machine is beginning to fail. It is 5-1/2 years old, and Ive used it every single night of those 5-1/2 years. I havent seen my sleep apnea doctor for 3-1/2 years because Im so compliant and so well controlled using my CPAP machine. Heres where it gets complicated. My sleep apnea docs clinic has a policy in place that if you havent been there within the last three years you get treated like a new patient. OK... fill out the questionnaire, provide insurance info, etc. I need a new CPAP machine if I am to keep on sleeping well, so I fill out the forms and send them in, prior to my initial appointment. I get home today to find a voicemail waiting. The person tells me they received my questionnaire, and based on my answers it is apparent to them that I do NOT have a sleep problem. What part of because I am using my machine do they not understand. So they have cancelled my appointment. I call them. What part of I have a machine that I use every night that is going to need replacing do they not understand? They then tell me they will send a new questionnaire, and I should guess what my answers would be if I dont use my machine. Oh, and I should be prepared to be referred for a sleep study to see if I need to have a machine to deal with the made up problems that I guess I would have if I dont use the machine that I must use in order to get to sleep at all. Can I scream now?
