Todays famous birthday honour goes to Milton S. Hershey, the founder of Hersheys Chocolate Company! Mr. Hershey was born on this day in 1857. He was from a strict Mennonite family, and was a devote and honourable man throughout his entire life. He started his own caramel company, which thrived, then began developing his famous chocolate candy confections. He married a lady named Catherine Kitty Sweeney, and although they werent able to have children, the Hersheys began developing a home for children of need. This philanthropy was further shown in the development of Hershey Park, an activity resort for entire families which still exists today. The Hersheys where originally scheduled to be passengers on the Titanic, but at the last minute declined their passage due to a business situation. Mr. Hershey also donated tons of chocolate bars to the soldiers during WWII. He was an absolutely great man! Happy Birthday, Mr. Hershey! I think everyone should enjoy a Hershey bar today in your honour!
