Todays helpful automotive tip involves changing out the wiper - TopicsExpress

Todays helpful automotive tip involves changing out the wiper motor on a 1994 Ford Ranger / Mazda B-3000. After removing the three bolts that hold the bracket which holds the wiper motor to the firewall , step back and scratch your head. Then go in the house and do a quick google search for tips. If you come across the link to the youtube video ( two parts no less ) done by two guys who in all likelihood dont have two brain cells to rub together between them , save yourself the 18 + minutes that they both require. You will need an 11 m.m , 5.5 m.m. and 7 m.m. sockets , preferably in 1/4 drive and the nut driver will work on six of the nine bolts. Youll need the ratchet for the other three and a short extension for two of them. A 14 m.m. wrench ( open or box end ). And a vocabulary of a Stevedore , Sailor or truck driver. I went with truck driver because it seems to come easiest to me. No.........on second thought , lets do it the easy way. Make sure you have comprehensive coverage on your automobile policy. Douse the under hood area liberally with gasoline. You can use pump regular here.......premium would be overkill , as quantity will benefit more than quantity. Stand about 50 feet back , light a Roman Candle , point it at the vehicle and the problem will take care of itself. One tip here..........have your wife or daughter call in the claim if you are of the male persuasion. And hope they send out a male adjuster. They will trip all over themselves trying to impress the woman with their knowledge , pointing knowingly at a fuel line and saying it is obvious to see how this started.......Im so glad you werent hurt , etc. etc. This is not based on personal experience , but rather a compilation of stories from friends and acquaintances. Take that check and hit Craigslist. You are looking for something pre-1975 at a minimum and pre 70 would be better yet. Back when you could work on a car and it was actually enjoyable. lol
