Todays installment in the never ending saga of misdirected Facebook anger seems fall under the heading of Chipotles Bags are a Bunch of Commies! This post does not include a link to any of those stories. I think the best reason to eat at Chipotle is the short stories on their cups. The worst reason not to eat there is being upset over an out of context sentence from one of these stories on a paper bag. The guy who wrote it, George Saunders, is actually a pretty amazing writer. Among other things, he wrote Congratulations, By the Way. It is about kindness, and how challenging it is to be kind. It is absolutely worth reading. It is short (it was originally a commencement speech). You can read the whole thing at the link below. Heres one paragraph to get you going. And so, a prediction, and my heartfelt wish for you: as you get older, your self will diminish and you will grow in love. YOU will gradually be replaced by LOVE. If you have kids, that will be a huge moment in your process of self-diminishment. You really won’t care what happens to YOU, as long as they benefit. That’s one reason your parents are so proud and happy today.
