Todays national food day has nothing to do with food. Happy National TV Dinner Day everybody. It all started in 1944 when frozen dinners were served on airplanes. Quaker States Foods made them commercially available in 1952 but the mass marketing across the nation came from C.A. Swanson and Sons soon after. Desserts were added in 1960 and the Swanson Hungry Man Dinner debuted in 1972. Microwavable trays came about in 1986.
