Todays race was, by far, one of the best Ive ever had the privilege of participating in!! Yes, I ran 13.1, but I also took full advantage of the free hug sign people, did a little polka with a man in a cowboy hat with brooks and Dunn blaring from the back of his truck, twerked to another song with random crossfit group (well, technically my thighs and butt twerked the entire race), stopped to massage a cramped calf of a fellow athlete, saw many triathletes, had a space city football club (SCFC) trainer run into the street to hug and cheer for me, and most powerfully, ran the beginning of the race under a huge American flag hanging off a tall crane stretched out over the road. The fire dept responsible for this literally made tears roll down my cheeks. Not my quickest race, but, the BEST!! Im so thankful to all those who contributed to this event!!!
