Todays record pool rewind heads back to 2008. Domino records provided a promo slipcase of Cheap and Cheerful by the Kills featuring remixes by Sebastian and Fake Blood. The Kills are an indie rock band formed by American singer Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince. Together they wrote indie electropunk club tracks influenced by Suicide, The Fall, P.J Harvey, and Patti Smith, though the music mags constantly made references to the White Stripes. Mosshart was previously in Floridian punk rock band Discount, has also made appearances on recordings with Placebo and Primal Scream. The featured mix here by Sebastian which also appears on the limited release promotional vinyl 12 inch charted into the top 10 by the end of 2008 and went on the years best list at #36. Sebastian Akchoté is a French musician who in a similar manner to Jacques Lu Cont started out in the new funk scene and ventured onwards towards the indie electro sound during the 2000s.
