Todays whale shark report: 7 Whale sharks, 2 mantas. A group of 5 whale sharks surfaced at one point. 4 boats in the area. The administration of the whale shark activity has changed drastically this year. The government has restricted the permits ( a good thing ) to reduce the number of boats and people among the animals. This is good for animal and human safety. Any of you who have been on the adventure when there were a small number of whale sharks at the surface has seen the crowding that takes place. It may be more difficult to find seats on short notice. From what I hear, the future of the activity ( 2015 and beyond )is under evaluation. Will the season be shortened? Will they allow entry into the water? Will they allow the activity at all?
