Todays words of faith & enlightenment.... Relinquish bondage of bad thought: 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (2 Corinthians 10:5) Definition of bondage: state of being a slave, the act of being restrained by another, the act of being subjected to a external power or control. As you sit back and think of this verse and the definition of bondage, have you ever felt condemned or convicted because of the bad or offensive thoughts you have had every day? You might have been in church, the middle of a prayer meeting, when suddenly a dirty thought enters your mind. You could say that its your subconscious thought thinking of your past or a thought implanted to you by that conscience little devil who is telling you simple subversive thoughts to your mind. Then, the devil withdrawals, watching as the seed he planted takes hold of your conscious thought. The devil adds an additional thought, saying, “How can you call yourself a Christian and still think such thoughts?” We are not perfect no matter how much we may think, and many of us are in bondage over those bad thoughts. When we go to church we feel the need to confess each and every thought while seeking God’s council and forgiveness. Understand this is not what God’s Word encourages us to do. As a Christian you must edify and understand, God wants us to bring “every thought into captivity, to the obedience under Christ”. Then even as we struggle with our convictions, think of whose obedience are we to focus on? Christ’s obedience and not our own! But what is “the obedience of Christ”? Scripture tells us: 19 For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Mans obedience many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19) It is Christs obedience to God that was finalized at the cross, where it says “by one Mans obedience many will be made righteous”. Knowing this, it tells us that Jesus shed His blood for us at the cross. This means that when our thoughts condemn us, we are to focus our thoughts on Jesus’ obedience at the cross. He gave us the ability to relinquish our bondage, our bad thoughts, our convictions, in that we should be obedient like He was, and we should rely on the blood and Christs obedience to the Father, to relieve ourselves of the worldly thoughts thats hold us back from enjoying the benefits of being an obedient follower of Christ. My friends, the devil can only make those subtle attacks and place thoughts into our minds, when we focus on that and keep it in our thoughts conscious or subconscious, he gets us to focus on our own obedience instead of Christ’s obedience. His tactics point us to our obedience or the lack of it and make us question our obedient standing before God. But just as our position as sinners is not based on what we do, but what the first Adam did, in the same way, we are forever righteous today not because of what we do, but because of what Christ did for us on the cross. So the next time you let thoughts appear to condemn you, take a moment and say, “I am righteous because of Christ whether I have good or bad thoughts. My righteousness has nothing to do with my own obedience. Because Christ’ obedience at the cross made me righteous and my sins were forgiven.” Then follow on by praying, asking for your wrongful thoughts, knowing that you have direct access to God and His promises, that He hears the prayer of the righteous. 29 The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous (Proverbs 15:29) Have a Blessed Sabbath, may God fill your spirit and soul with wisdom. Yours in Christ~!
