Today’s “Thought Of The Day” comes from Father Greg. He talked about the concepts of VIPs and equality. He quoted somebody who once said, “We’re all created equal, but we don’t end up equal.” He talked about the idea we have of VIPs and the concept that some people can be more important than others. Father Greg told the story of when he and four homies got to meet President Obama last week. They were treated as VIPs: allowed to sit in a special section, allowed to pass the lines of people waiting to hear the President speak. The President shook their hands and spoke with everyone individually. Father Greg finished his story by reminding us that the President is no more important than the homies whose hands he shook that day. He then ended by reminding us that we are all created equal, and that the task of Homeboy Industries (among many tasks) is to help the world return to equal.
