Today’s news re: Ukraine and Nigeria combined with recent evacuation of US Embassies in South Sudan and the Central African Republic are only the most recent examples of this administration’s failed foreign policies. The President’s promotion of appeasement, leading from behind, befriending Mr. Putin, befriending the Islamic Brotherhood, etc, etc,; combined with the Obama-Clinton foreign doctrine of “we can diplomatically create peace with our enemies – just trust us”, are coming home to roost. Other examples include: the Baghdad surrender, Afghan pull out, Taliban negotiations, ceding governments all across all of North and Central Africa (Egypt, Libya, Chad, Mali, Sudan and Mauritania) to Islamic fundamentalists, the Assad-Syrian line in the sand debacle, empowerment of the Iranian mullahs, are results set in motion by the President’s 2009 Cairo speech and the Obama-Clinton initiatives and of course Benghazi. Secretary Kerry’s statements relative to Russia’ flag waving in the Ukraine; “This is not Rocky IV” combined with his proclamation that “The greatest threat to World Peace is global warming” no doubt has political leaders in Moscow and Beijing laughing, jumping with joy and high fiving. Unfortunately this is not the first time in our nation’s history that progressivism has led to bad results. Interested parties may wish to read the first few chapters of Barbara Tuchman’s “Guns of August” published in 1914.
