Today’s word of encouragement: “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 Timothy had received a download of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of Paul’s hands via impartation. Paul was encouraging him to stir up that impartation. The New American standard Bible puts it this way. “For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6 This resembles the stirring up of the embers of a fire to re-ignite them into flames. We may not have had the opportunity that Timothy had with Paul but we have all had someone profoundly touch our lives, especially if it was God! We all have lost momentum once or twice in our Christian walk and needed a refreshing. “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;” Acts 3:19 We must refresh ourselves with a new visitation or time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord! The refreshing which comes from the Lord will deposit and re-enforce what you currently possess. “For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.” Matthew 25:29 The power, love and sound mind we currently steward will receive deeper and richer impartations as we grow and mature in our Christian walk. Today stir up that which God has entrusted you with. Allow God to breathe upon the embers and re-ignite the fire upon the altar and consume the sacrifice of your life. Remember that as you release yourself to Him you will be entrusted with even more! God bless you P.M.
