Together via CaringBridge We know that so many of you are wondering how Jace is and what exactly is happening since our super quick visit to ER last night.. Yesterday was such a great day. We were able to meet with some very special ladies who presented Jace with his Peachs Neet Feet. This organization is an amazing thing so please take time out to learn about it , the kids wearing the shoes, the artists painting the shoes, the donors, and the people who are honored. We were so very thankful to even be a part of this. It was a bonus that we made some very special new friends, also. Jace was energetic and excited to get his special shoes. He was all dressed and even wanted some of daddys cologne for such a special day. He was smiling, laughing, jumping, running, wrestling and happy. You can see our photo album of the visit and meeting here: https://facebook/media/set/?set=a.397313000398085.1073741828.278532128942840&type=1&l=9638d3... Within about an hour after our new friends left, he began acting very lethargic, moaning in pain and then all that, normally, comes with a stomach virus. Except anything that is normal for you and I IS NOT normal for anyone going through chemo. My instinct knew that wed been packing and driving to Dallas. He became so sick so fast and his fever rose so high that we knew the best place for him was in Dallas on D6 with our people. :) We were in ER until about 5 am. Once we got to his room they took blood samples, stool samples, and urine samples. Also, because his hemoglobin was so low, he received blood. Later this evening they found that he had clostridium difficile cdiff. It is a spore forming bacteria found in his intestine. Its contracted by person-to-person or physical touch of an object. Hand-sanitizer does not kill it. So, hand washing is a non-negotiable. Bleach and CaviWipes/Cleaner are our best friends (aside from soap and water). Some of you know that I regularly clean with the Cavi Products (hospital grade) and am diligent about counters, door knobs, etc. Now we are just a little more OCD about it all. :) They have been giving him continuous fluids, strong antibiotics (three different), nausea meds and Tylenol. He has slept most of the day which has been good as he and his body are just worn. Weve been told that we could be here anywhere from a few days to two weeks. His ANC must go up two days in a row, the bacteria has to be completely gone and no fever for 24 hours before he can go home. We knew when his ANC was so low that he was more susceptible to all that was out there. We are SO very close to maintenance and we are not letting this *bump* in the road change PRAISING GOD for the miracle moments we have already seen. Today, has been an amazing example of just how one person (Jace) can bring so many people together for one cause: hope, love, prayer, gratitude & awareness. Its days like this that Im reminded: If we would all just come together, we can accomplish ANYTHING. #nothingisimpossible Your support means so much to us and we recognize just how blessed we are to have so many standing with us. We havent been able to answer all of you back, but please know we see your messages, prayers, and comments.
