Tom Foley supports school choice and allowing funding to follow - TopicsExpress

Tom Foley supports school choice and allowing funding to follow the child to the school of their choice. I could not more emphatically agree that this is necessary. It will inject competition into the school system, meaning schools will now have incentive to innovate and to improve. Foley may support Common Core for the lowest performing schools (which I dont agree with) but no child would be forced to go to those schools under his plan, so if parents were opposed they could easily choose another school. Foley is pro charter school, while McKinney is not. Charters provide for an alternative to traditional learning environments which can be very helpful and uplifting to many students. They offer a better peer to teacher ratio, more dynamic class structures, and work place programs, adventure education, and other enriching programs traditional schools do not for less cost. The teachers, often non union, are there because they value education and want to help kids, not for a paycheck. It is with this in mind that I endorse Tom Foley for Governor of CT.
