(Matthew 3.7-10). This applies today also to both unsaved people and the many back sliding Christians who wish to continue in their sins and give grace as their excuse for not repenting. If youre bothered by this enough to think about your life and accept the Lords judgment, that YOU NEED TO CHANGE TO BE ACCEPTABLE TO GOD, YOURE UNDERSTANDING THE MESSAGE: REPENT OR PERISH. Its very common now for Christians to eviscerate the gospel of its message of repentance, and rebuke of sin as a FB friend did yesterday when he said that we can forget John the Baptist and his rebuke of sin and just concentrate on Christs love for us. Guess what, its very loving for John and Jesus to call attention to peoples sins in the most visceral way possible, TO WAKE PEOPLE UP TO THE MORTAL AND ETERNAL DANGER THEYRE IN OF DYING AND GOING TO HELL FOREVER UNLESS THEY MAKE AN ACCEPTABLE REPENTANCE. Both John and Jesus were murdered for their message, which calls people rotten sinners and tells them to repent. Jesus called his listeners, hypocrites, the king a fox, and continually rebuked them for their lack of love and holiness and for not following him. A true disciple of Christ will be so concerned for the future and eternal destiny of others that he will tell them the awful truth of their unsaved state and that if they continue unsaved they will go to HELL (another legitimate word for preachers to use but forbidden to pc. preachers for fear of offending and losing donations). So if youre so inclined, you can revile despise, and yes attack me for telling you the truth, just pay attention to your eternal destiny and repent. You see, love is telling the truth: are you prepare to meet your God?
