Tom Wilt Throwback Thursdays - Racism - Im Pissed, My Heart is Breaking - Usually I dont throwback, I throw at heads on Thursday. Today we start back when I was 4,5, 6 yrs old. My dad Dr (of history) aka Rev Paul Wilt was a pastor of a small rural church outside of Hanover Pa. We sang songs like Jesus Loves the Little Children along with others. Our versions were vanilla not soulful like Sugar Minott, but I sang with a conviction, a picture or video of children of all colors being loved, getting along inside my young mind. At that age I knew little or nothing re racism, and the police killing black males. Dont think Ive thought of this song in decades, it recently popped back into my mind, heart and soul. Thoughts not being so much about Jesus as the blight that racial hatred has caused. Thoughts that are breaking my heart. The key thought more or less, racial hatred is learned behavior. Children are not born with this hatred, their blasted parents teach it. We made progress as a society in the 60s & 70s, am convinced that sometime in the 80s we started a slide backwards; that slide continues today, and the many of this ilk are members of the Republican Party, a party where few will dare to call out the racist pigs that belong to their party. No we are not back in Jim Crow territory, but who is to say we could not get close. It breaks my heart when Paul Body tells me that at his age (I think a couple yrs older than I), has to take his ID with him, to prove where he lives, in case or when he is stopped. The epidemic of police slaughtering young black males again breaks my heart. The fact that SO MANY people hate other because of skin color is sickening. Skin color? Come on, get real, give me a f-in break. Skin color, a reason for hate, what is wrong with these assholes. One cant change evil people, but Ill be dammed if I knowingly will ever support one. For one, I will never again go see David Allen Coe, I hope those who abhor racism feel the same way. We should also refuse to spend our dollars with those companies who have racial hiring policies that closes the door to those with different skin colors. A big thanks to many of you who have posted regarding racial issues, a special FB award should be given to Ron Wynn, who pokes our hearts with his sane & much more rational wording than yours truly. Yes there are more of you, I just see Rons post more frequently.
