Tomorrow I head for VIFF. I got my pass and my room and Ill be writing on it for Parallax View and for Keyframe. But my god, I dont feel up to it at this point. Im exhausted, Im depressed, my creative drive is stuck in first gear (when i can even get it running), and I feel like crawling into bed with a book and shutting out the world. I know there are other folks out there who know what Im talking about. Depression sucks and self-awareness doesnt mean you can just power through it. I know its just a matter of holding on and getting your shit done until you come out the other end, but thats small comfort. On the plus side, I love being in Vancouver, I love the festival, I love the charge of jumping into a lively schedule of movies, and I look forward to seeing folks I only ever see at VIFF. Its my movie club and I love it and I have every reason to believe it will pick up my spirits and my energy level.
