Tomorrow, October 22, would have been Julie and Is 44th anniversary. Thinking about it has brought some fresh grief, but also time taken to reflect on a lifetime of memories. I remember a 12 year old Julie hitting a softball and taking out a light that had been set up so we could play the game. I remember looks or more accurately her eyes. Julies eyes would sparkle when she was up to mischief and she would giggle. There were also times those eyes threw sparks. No she wasnt laughing in those moments, at least not until later. Julies eyes were also very tender, especially when she looked at a hurting child. She had a heart that was wide open. Giving was her favorite pass time. I dont even know how many Bibles she gave away. Im not talking about gift Bibles you can go buy at the book store, Im talking about her personal Bible. I would take her and buy her something she liked and sometime later she would learn a friend or parishioner needed a Bible. She would just give her Bible without even thinking about it. If you knew her you know there werent many things that she hung onto. What she valued was people. She stuck with me through thick and thin for over 43 years.
