Tomorrow (Wednesday 5 November!): Dignity will be the topic at the next Local Poverty Matters Study Group from 7-8 PM in the basement classroom of the First Religious Society Church, 26 Pleasant St., Newburyport. The speaker, Ellie Davis, is Director of Programs and Community Relations at the Greater Newburyport YWCA. Her goal there is to create supportive communities which is A YWCA mission-based response to homelessness and poverty in our area. Ms. Davis has over 40 years experience working in programs servicing children and families including Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Massachusetts, New Mexico, and California. Her passion for social justice work stems from the courageous children and families who have touched her heart in her career. Local Poverty Matters Study Group is a live lecture series jointly sponsored by the Social Action Committee of FRS and by Pennies for Poverty. It is free and open to the public. Please join us to hear about this unique and important aspect of helping the poor.
