Tomorrow at Hillside Church - Julian, CA: Were continuing Pauls valediction to the Colossian Christ followers. He mentioned several men that helped him in ministry, featuring Epaphras, whom Im describing as a pastor with a passionate heart. Here is an excerpt from the sermon: So, what did Epaphras pray about? What was his concern for the Christ followers at Colossae? That they would each drive a new BMW? No! That they would own land and servants? No! That they would always be in health and prosper even as their soul prospers? Again, NO! Here’s what he prayed about [4:12] - ...that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. He wanted them to be fully developed Christ followers; mature, filled-out, complete — that’s the first Greek word teleos, some of your translations render it PERFECT. The second Greek word translated complete, means FULLY ASSURED; confident, not having their minds messed up by the false teachers in their church. Epaphras was passionate about the right thing. They needed to be strong, balanced Christ followers, not buffeted to and fro with every wind of doctrine.
