Tomorrow baby Stella is three months old. Tonight I got one of those rare moments alone with her. When youve had five you know what a rare moment it is. Just us. We danced around the kitchen. I held her tight like I never get a chance to do with the other four anymore. This is my last hurrah. Never again will I hold an infant of my own again. Never again will I kiss a babys tiny head and know that for that brief moment in time she depends on me and only me. They grow up and they grow away. They lean towards the sun and away from you. They slip through your fingers no matter how tight your grip. No longer are you the one in control. It seems like overnight youre at their mercy...all the love you invested comes back to you in dribs and drabs...and youre so thankful for every morsel. But thats the way its supposed to be.
