Tomorrow is the day we take back our schools from the corporations. With about half of L.I. districts reporting we have confirmation that there will be over 5,500 children refusing to take the NYS Assessments tomorrow on Long Island alone!! Tomorrow, I can send my kids off to school by telling them that they are making history. They will be a part of the largest testing boycott in the history of this great nation. Instead of telling them “don’t stress out, just do your best because these tests don’t mean anything” I can tell them, “enjoy your book and know that what you are doing DOES mean something.” Tomorrow, I reinforce the message that when something isn’t right it’s up to you to DO something to change it. Tomorrow my children will be leaders, not followers. THAT is the message of refusing!
