Tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan, the month of fasting, and - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan, the month of fasting, and yesterday morning Sherif and I set out to get Ramadan presents for the workers. Many supermarkets sell Ramadan bags, which are bags with basic food items like macaroni, rice, sugar etc. and we decided that Carrefour should be able to fulfil our needs. After driving there in 40 degrees with the wind burning through the open windows, we fought our way through the masses only to be told that they were out of Ramadan cartons. Then we went to another supermarket to get cans of dog food for the sick puppies, then went back to the stable to feed them. Then we drove across the Nile to a fancier area of town where we were finally rewarded with both AC and abundances of Ramadan bags. We didnt get to enjoy the quiet and cold for long; as soon as we entered, Zaki called to say that someone had delivered a mare with a big wound. Then while we were getting cleaning supplies for the stable, Mohammed called to inform us that Mr Fox is loose in the stable and I cant catch him. Well, there was not much we could do being 20 km away. And as we were paying and stuffing the bags in the car and on the roof of the car, the neighbour called to say that he had a mare with a wound and he needed Sherif to stitch it up. We came back to the stables to realize that Zaki hadnt exaggerated, the first mare really had a big wound! She had been loose and had ran into a garbage container that had something pointy sticking out, according to her owner. Here she had been sedated and Sherif was inside to get needle and thread. The swelling at her throat is from an injection she was given before coming to us.
