Tomorrow morning, the House Oversight and Government Reform - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow morning, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is scheduled to mark up yet another postal bill. The so-called Secure Delivery for America Act is one more attempt to eliminate universal door-to-door mail delivery service. This move to reduce service makes no sense, especially since USPS recently revealed that it made an operational profit of more than $1 billion in the first half of Fiscal Year 2014. And cutting service would do nothing to solve the real problem the Postal Service still faces: the unfair mandate to pre-fund 75 years’ worth of future retiree health benefits within 10 years, a mandate that no other companies or agencies face and that is responsible for almost all of the Postal Services reported losses since 2007. ** ACT NOW **: Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121, ask to be connected to your House member, and then let your representative know you oppose the “Secure Delivery for America Act.”
