Tomorrow sees Winslow Utd FC make the shot trip to Mursley to face - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow sees Winslow Utd FC make the shot trip to Mursley to face their local rivals in the 2nd round of the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup. Winslow come into the game in poor league form, with only one point from there opening six league fixtures to date. Mursley however, have had a mixed start in the division below, but have recently put together some strong performances to record several results in both league and cup competitions. The game promises to be a thriller as both sides are still looking to kick start their seasons, and with the added edge of it being a local derby, followed by the two clubs reserves meeting on Tuesday evening, we would urge any neutral or local football supporter to get down to Mursley for a 2.30pm kick off. Winslow Utd manager Scott Reynolds spoke after his team’s training session last night. We are looking forward to Saturday, still not there with a completely settled squad, which is taking longer than I hoped. But I am happy to say we have more available for this one, than any of our previous three games. We were left without a game last weekend due to being beaten in the FA Vase by Potton Utd a few weeks prior. Therefore we have had plenty of time to reflect, regroup and prepare for Saturday. In total we have trained 4 times since the last game and some of us had the chance to watch a few of the Mursley lads, who we expect to play against at the weekend, in a game against our reserves on Tuesday. We are confident and desperate to win some games, whatever the competition and whoever the opponents. The majority of defeats thus far have come in games where for large parts we have looked good for a result. Just lapses of concentration, poor decision making and a few missed chances have cost us. We plan to stop the rot on Saturday and progress into the following round. The berks and Bucks is a competition that in recent history Winslow have struggled, including last season when it was Mursley who knocked us out on penalties. So revenge for the club is on the agenda. Squad wise, Captain Ed Kisaalu is still struggling with his long term thigh injury but took part in light training this week, Nathan Skelton is still away, Daniel Higby is visiting a university and Tyler Penman is currently out of action. We also wait on the fitness of centre half Aiden Bailey, but apart from those names we are as full strength as we can be at present. I am hoping to add two signings for up and coming league fixtures, but neither have put pen to paper yet & would not have been able to play tomorrow due to the registration ruling in this competition. Squad: Tom Weymes, Liam Murphy, Mark Wiltshire, Aiden Bailey, Chris Setterfield, Nick Farrow, Liam Gallagher, Martin Dyer, Jason Costello, Brandon Graham, Dale Butler, Ollie Golding, James Bishop, Michael Reed. Kick off at Mursley is 2.30pm.
