Tongue Tie. It is difficult for me because I am not a healthcare professional, although I am often the one supporting women through these issues. I feel very VERY passionate about women and babies receiving good care when it comes to breastfeeding. I keep seeing this assessment failing dyads time and time again.No you have not got a tongue tie here or The tie is too small to cause an issue or We already divided the frenulum, there is a small one left but you should be fine In some cases, it is not fine. It is like a postcode lottery-some areas are great, others not. If you are not proficient in your assessment of infant feeding, ditch the ego and leave it to the people who are capable of performing a thorough assessment. I am not that person, I know my boundaries, thankful if I see indications there may be an issue, I can refer to NHS and privately even if some areas are lacking in the tongue tie department-and that sometimes means a lack of knowledge and expertise rather than a lack of service :-( cwgenna/ttidentify.html
