Toni Kroos has had something of a Bayern Munich encouraged - TopicsExpress

Toni Kroos has had something of a Bayern Munich encouraged kicking in the German media over the last few months. Hes been painted as a money grabber, someone causing problems where there should be none, a trouble causer. Time after time people representing the club have come out in the German media telling stories about not paying silly wages and not bowing to the demands of stars, its not something Bayern Munich will be forced to do... thats what German football fans have been told about Kroos. At the end of last month Bayern Munich president Karl Hopfner compared the situation to what happened with Michael Ballack and said with him they withdrew the offer. Its a veiled threat if ever there was one. Whilst this has all been happening, Manchester United interest was being reported, dismissed, and reported again. Last week we covered claims that Louis van Gaal had even telephoned Kroos, which considering the treatment hes getting from Bayern Munich, will have been a boost. Spanish newspaper Sport also reported at that same time that a €24m bid had been made by Manchester United for Kroos. Bild have explained on more than one occasion that Kroos wants to be paid €7m to €8m per year. Hes currently on €4.5m. In Febraury the German newspaper revealed the clubs wage brackets as: €12m Ribery & Gotze - €10m Schweinsteiger & Lahm - €8m Muller & Thiago - €7m Neuer, Alaba, Robben - €6m Martinez & Boateng - €5m van Buyten, Rafinha, Mandzukic - €4.5m Kroos & Pizarro - €3.5m Dante & Badstuber - €2.5m Shaqiri. Since then several of those players have had pay rises and extensions, despite their contracts lasting far longer than Kroos, which ends next June. Muller and Lahm have been the latest but even Pizarro, bizarrely deemed as worthy as Kroos, has been given a new deal this month. There seems no logical reason why Bayern Munich wont pay Kroos what Bild and others say hes asking for. It would still be at least €4m less than Gotze, who played a much lesser role last season than Kroos, gets. Why isnt Kroos worth the same as Peps pet Thiago? Rather than Kroos agitating to leave Bayern Munich, its looking like the club are forcing him out.
