Tonight Council Member McKeown and co sponsor Council Member Vazquez have an item on the Agenda to draft a simple ballot measure to go before the voters in November: 13-C: Request of Councilmembers McKeown and Vazquez that the Council direct staff to draft a possible ballot measure requiring that any development along Ocean Avenue exceeding existing zoning shall require approval by the voters of the City of Santa Monica, and return said draft to the Council on July 8th for consideration. While this does not go as far as Id like its a start and would protect one of our most precious assets, Ocean Avenue, from becoming a future wall of tall buildings.
