Tonight I am doing some research into the Altar of Sacrifice. This - TopicsExpress

Tonight I am doing some research into the Altar of Sacrifice. This is a tough one, because for every three commentators there are four opinions. The sticky point is the grate, and exactly how it connects to and integrates with the outer altar. No two artists agree either. I need to come up with a system by which the grate not only serves as a platform for the sacrifice, but by which the entire altar can be lifted and moved, yet it still is removable to clean out ash. All this, and still have it look likes it belongs with the other furniture, having the same designer. In part I can do that by using the same Egyptian cavetto cornice as the Ark, Table and Incense altar have, and the same horn design as the Incense. I cannot get away with the trapezoidal structure of those pieces, though, because that would introduce physical problems for the priest who would have to lean too far in to place the sacrifice. Impractical. You see what I am up against?
