Tonight I am thankful for the handful of women Gods placed in my life who have yearned for motherhood and known great pain from never having tasted that gift. I am thankful for the years of longing God allowed me to experience that not only make my own joy so great now, but my compassion for those whose desires are yet unfulfilled so tender. I have been astounded at the number of honest conversations Ive had with these dear ladies. There has been a common theme, JOY and SORROW. They co-exist! I have welcomed their honestly! Because its HARD when someone else gets your wish...it hurts to see baby pics on Facebook, or worse yet, to hear mamas complaining about their Blessings when your womb is empty. It has been so sweet to grieve with my friends, and beyond touching to accept their joy on my behalf. What a mystery, the body of Christ. I am so humbled and definitely struggle with guilt strangely enough. I dont know why God hasnt been fit to give these ladies their deepest desires....but I KNOW He is good! I dont know why He choice me, a weak vessel in so many ways, to carry this baby, but I choice to rejoice. An encouragement to those of you who are newly engaged, married, pregnant, a mama, new home...anything that is desirable. I remember feeling shame over our engagement to a degree because I have so many friends who have significant health struggles and only ever dreamed of a devoted man pursuing them. I did not need to feel SHAME!!!! Rejoice!!! Gods given you a gift!!!! With that said...perhaps ask God to show you who may be quietly aching and do something awkward. TALK ABOUT IT!!!!!!! Ask them if its hard, invite them to share (but be sure youre ready to listen first). This is the gospel, dear friends. Dance in the streets over Gods blessing, for yourself AND others....and curl up in a little ball and weep over the things that break your heart, the things that are because we live in a broken world. Do this WITH others. I promise you, something beautiful will happen!!!!! Please private message me how to pray with you if you are in a season of plenty and someone you love is hurting.
