Tonight I sit and ponder how one can have a heavy heart filled - TopicsExpress

Tonight I sit and ponder how one can have a heavy heart filled with sadness and find joy in that sadness at the same time. How many of us say everyday that there is some thing or other that we are going to do, yet strangely we never find the time to actually follow through. How many friends and loved ones do we promise to visit and never keep that promise. It seems that every time we head to Pensacola through Jay, as we passed by Sammy Beasleys house we always looked to see if we saw him in the yard and Gehrig would say I want to stop and see Sammy one day. Finally, after hearing it repeated so many times I decided that it would be that day. I slammed on the brakes and turned in. Luckily, Sammy was home and we had the best visit ever. It was great to relive old memories and catch up on the past. He was such a great part of our lives when we were young. Sammy and I came so close to dying when I was 16 when he wrecked his brand new car on top of Green Branch Hill when he failed to make a curve, clipping down a telephone pole and missing a giant oak by inches right beside me in the back seat, doing at least 100 mph at the time, thankfully we had slowed down! (Mammas do you know where your children are?) Needless to say I never road with him again. If I was in the car with him, he let me drive! Now all my friends know why I am a control freak when it comes to driving. Well apparently, God wasnt ready for us as He had things left for us to do. Sadly, it finally came Sammys time as he was called home this past Sunday night. His work was done. During our sweet visit, one of the things we shared was how all three of us had come to know Gods amazing forgiveness and love putting our hopes in heaven one day. As we left that day, I think we all knew it would be our last visit. My forever memory of Sammy will be as we parted and he stood there with tears in his eyes and said those words that I will always cherish. He said, “I love you.” I just ask you, is there someone you need to say those words to while you still have time. RIP Sammy Beasley. You may be gone, but you certainly will never be forgotten. We loved you too!
