Tonight I stand in solidarity with imperfect parents. Parents who didnt take the gag-me charming, never-miss-it first day of school photo. Parents who started the fresh new school year mentally wasted and emotionally hung over from the discordant family feud which happened the night before. Parents who sent their already stressed kids to school actually happy to not be at home with mom. Yes, that is how our day started. Not with Mickey Mouse pancakes and Fresh squeezed orange juice and a loving blessing, but rather with a need to ask for forgiveness and a display of fragile humanness. Viewing all the Sweet sentimental posts today from all of you amazing moms and dads who love your kids obviously more than I love mine -If the mornings actions are the measure- Causes me to reflect with sadness on my inability to take the higher road. At least I can say with confidence that theres no way to go but up from how we started our school year today. If there any other parents out there who , like me , are feeling like a failure - lets take the pledge to try a little harder tomorrow . I sure know that I need to!
