Tonight I went to Outback on Germantown Parkway with a friend and I was worried I was going to have to use the hundreds of hours of first aid training I have received over the years, but thankfully an ER charge nurse, Stacey, from Corith, Mississippi was there with her hubby. A man had a diabetic episode and she had to feed him four sugar packs. He threw up three times and she knew exactly what to do. As he began to pass out with glazed over eyes, she jumped into action and asked if he was diabetic! She shouted orders to everyone to get a bucket, get a cold tag, I need sugar packets, and eyes to the sky to the patient as he was throwing up. The paramedics finally got there after about twenty minutes and she keep giving orders even to them. Stacey was amazing to watch and so humble. The restaurant cheered after the stretcher left with The patient on his way to St. Francis, Bartlett ER. Of course the manager comped their bill and they were a bit unsettled over that. Her husband said, she was just doing her job. The bartender told them they better take the managers offer, because there were two other patrons in the place trying to pay her tab as well. So thankful she was willing to serve without hesitation. If any of you knows Stacey the ER nurse from Corith, Ms. Give her a high five and let her know we were all thankful she was there, willing to serve, gracious, and competent! By the way Lauren Noël Mason you missed an evening of excitement!
