Tonight I went to a fundraising dinner at Lake Merritt United - TopicsExpress

Tonight I went to a fundraising dinner at Lake Merritt United Methodist in support of Wadi Foquin, a Palestinian village being threatened by Israeli settlement expansion in the Bethlehem area. The latest confiscation of 1000 acres was one of many acts of collective punishment across the West Bank for the killing of three Israeli settler teens this summer. To help the village survive, Friends of Wadi Foquin has helped with a local beehive project, community center, and congressional advocacy (they have a hearing scheduled on the hill this Monday). Proceeds from this event went to a soccer field project to support youth and employment. It was great to hear mayor Ahmad Sokar speak so passionately about his village and how much they love their way of living off the land. Their produce is famous in the West Bank. May it grow for generations to come! #solidarity #sumud
