Tonight, a Lee County family is asking for your well wishes and prayers after their first grader was bit by a rattlesnake on Sunday outside their home in the Marvin community. Alleria Cate Dupree was treated at EAMC with anti-venom then air lifted to Childrens UAB because she was very sick. Her father tells me he was able to kill the snake and bring it with him to the ER in 20 minutes, where doctors at EAMC began immediate emergency care. Tonight, she is responding well to treatments at UAB but is not out of the woods. Bubba & Rhiannon Dupree are asking for your prayers for their daughter and they are cautioning parents about the dangers of rattlesnakes in the area. We will have more information on this story tomorrow. I wanted to send out the families prayer request as soon as possible. Alleria, I hope you feel better soon and that sweet smile of yours is melting my heart!
