Tonight after partaking of our Chinese feast, we of course got fortune cookies. On opening mine, it said tonight, the love of your life will appear before you unexpectedly! My husband looked at me and screamed aaaaahhh!! Was that unexpected enough? We all had a good laugh about it, and off to mass we went. But then at mass, I kept thinking about that fortune cookie. And then realised that there was some actual truth inside that crispy sweet treat. For God really has been the truest love I have known in my life. And He appeared before me tonight; in the Eucharist, in the music, in the faces of all those people crammed in like sardines in the pews, in the sign of peace, in my sweet family. As for the unexpected....well, I dont know what could be more unexpected than God becoming flesh, to walk among us, to be born into this insanity and darkness with the promise of bringing peace and light. He appeared...and the soul felt its worth. So maybe, just this once, a fortune cookie was right. :) Merry Christmas, dear friends!
